Purpose of application for data access

To support the value and use of natural history resources through systematic collection and research in Korea.

To provide natural history resources and biodiversity information from museums and universities in Korea to support research and education in industry, academia, and research institutions.

Data access
  • Natural history resources and biodiversity information (species information, images, video, audio, etc.) held by the National Science Museum for science and related industrial research are available upon request. OpenAPI is being expanded through the establishment of an inventory with other institutions that hold natural history reference specimens (physical objects and information) such as science museums, universities, and natural history museums in Korea.
  • The resources are provided only to institutions and individuals who have expertise in the use and storage of the resources requested and have the necessary facilities to handle the resources to make meaningful use of the resources.
  • When applying for data access, the requesters will be asked to consent to the lending and use of the resources to prevent the leakage of national wealth.

Data access procedure

We request applicants to submit data access applications to protect the copyright of content provided by the Korean Natural History Research Information System (NARIS). The procedure for applying for data access is as follows:

    An administrator reviews your application and the data you're applying for.

    Request processing

    You will receive the data or specimens according to the method of receipt written in the application.
