Introduction of Raptor Network

A. What is Raptor Network?

Raptor Network is working centering on Korean Raptor Information Network, establishes a network by collecting Korean rapacious birds observation information in one place, and promotes cooperation for determining moving fly-ways of rapacious birds and their protection as well as sharing materials on them.

B. Establishment Background

  • This network aims to establish a network by concentrating Korean raptor observation information on one place and prepare the basic materials for determination of moving fly-ways of raptor and for their protective management.
  • At the same time, it is expected that with this system, it is possible to obtain general knowledge of raptor by sharing photographic and academical information and to increase the ability of the domestic researchers to observe raptor.
  • We hope that, in the country, the interest in raptor will increase, lots of information could be shared by the number of network participants being increased and a sound and famous raptor information network could be established.

C. Major Activities

  • Established materials of Korean Raptor Information Network(KRIN, Date of establishment : April 1, 2009) and sharing of materials
  • Classification of raptor and identification education
  • Investigation of movement and actual conditions of raptor
  • Exchange and utilization of information on raptor movement
  • Holding a meeting for exchanging information on raptor across the nation
  • Education in raptor observation, holding a research meeting and a meeting for announcement of studies on raptor
  • Hosted Korea-Japanese raptor joint investigation
